Jane Stephens Rosenthal is a poet, an actor, and a filmmaker living in Los Angeles.
She graduated from the American Film Institute as a Directing Fellow in August 2020.
Her award-winning thesis film The Hideaway debuted at The 16th Annual Hollyshorts Film Festival and is currently making the festival rounds all over the world. It won best Directing, Editing, and Cinematography at the Beyond The Curve Film Festival. It also was runner up for the Sisters of Cinema Award at the Santa Fe Film Festival. The film won Best Performances at the Toronto Feedback Female Film Festival, and a platinum Remi Award at Houston International Film Festival.
Her directorial debut No One Ever Said had it's premiere at The Los Angeles Independent Filmmakers Showcase in May, and then went on to play in the LA Shorts International Film Festival and Los Angeles' HollyShorts Film Festivals in August 2016.
In 2015 Jane started writing pieces of an opera called HOPSCOTCH (which she also acted in.) Some of her written chapters are available online. Check out her favorite, Chapter 34 written for her Mum.
Jane was also an editor for the now defunct experimental magazine TheNewerYork.
The Couch Portraits began in 2011 as another way of expressing herself.
